About Us

Submit your book to S.i.S.

At Sisters in Spirit we are dedicated to promoting works of literature by and about African Americans.  Toward this aim we review books that are sent to us by authors in many genres.  If you would like to submit your book to us, please forward a copy to:

Sisters in Spirit

PO Box 9593

Virginia Beach, VA  23450-9593

Some things you should be aware of:

While we would like to feature everyone, our small review staff limits the number of submissions that can be reviewed each month.

Submissions that include professional press kits and author background information do receive more interest.

Books are reviewed in the order received and may take 8-12 weeks to be reviewed depending on the number of submissions received.

Not all books received will be highlighted on our site.  We are seeking books that will garner insightful discussions.  So while we may love your novel, we may feel that it may not be book club appropriate and it may not be featured on our site.

All submissions should include author and/or publicist contact information in the event that they are chosen as a monthly selection.

We can not feature your book as a monthly selection unless we receive a review copy.  While we love to receive bios, synopsis, etc. we only feature novels that we have reviewed.

Sorry, we do not accept poetry or screenplay submissions.

This site is dedicated to the memory of my mother, Betty Jean and the spirit of my daughters, BriJea and Adia. Betty is my history, Jada & DeeDee are my future. They are a tremendous part of who I am. Mama taught me strength, BriJea brought me courage, and Adia taught me joy. I love you and thank you for such a tremendous legacy!
